Foreign journalists visit Barrus and explore Estonia’s forestry and wood industries

At the end of January, foreign journalists from the United Kingdom, Poland, Belgium, Spain and France visited Estonia to learn more about the country’s forestry and wood industries.

The press trip, organised by the Estonian Forest and Wood Industries Association, also included a visit to Barrus. Our CEO, Martti Kork, and Member of the Management Board, Andres Linnasaar, gave the guests a tour of the factory and offered a behind-the-scenes look at our production process.

The visitors were especially interested in our progress in digitalisation and automation, but the discussions also covered resource efficiency, as well as the current situation and future outlook of Estonia’s forestry and wood industry more broadly. The journalists were also very interested in our community life and kood/Võru, while our steaming kiln created plenty of excitement.

Spanish industrial media has also published an in-depth article about our factory, highlighting Barrus as a model for the digitalisation of Estonian industry — what a proud moment for us!
